Platinum City Rovers could turn to former Orlando Pirates midfielder Nkanyiso Zungu for experience in a bid to survive relegation in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Zungu is currently without a club having parted ways with Richards Bay FC last season.

The former Bucs midfielder trained with Royal AM and AmaZulu FC, before resurfacing at City Rovers in Johannesburg two weeks ago.

According to sources close to the Motsepe Foundation outfit, Zungu has done well during his assessment with the club and could sign on the dotted line sooner rather than later.

“He has been working hard at training. He has been doing extra training and so far has done well. The club is keen to sign him and they might conclude the deal before the end of this week,” said a source close to the club.

Zungu has played for Orlando Pirates, Stellenbosch FC and AmaZulu, among teams in the PSL. He only spent two months with the Natal Rich Boyz last season, before being discarded, with allegations of ill-discipline sticking to his name like glue.

Platinum City Rovers are currently sitting at the bottom of the Motsepe Foundation standings with 19 points after playing 21 games so far this season. They travel to face NB La Masia in their next league match at the Dobsonville Stadium on April 2.
