SuperSport United 1-0 Kaizer Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs were denied a fourth straight win the DStv Diski Challenge as holders SuperSport United claimed a narrow 1-0 victory in Saturday’s action.

Both teams were keen to go on the front-foot right from the start and showed it through a number of penetrations as well as guilt-edge chances.

Matsatsantsa hit the front though before the end of the first half with a thumping free-kick from Thabang Makhubo which left goalkeeper Lungile Nkosi rooted to his goal-line.

Vela Khumalo’s men were eager to get back on equal terms after the break, but the chances presented to Siphesihle Tati in particular weren’t buried as United snatched victory.

TS Galaxy 0-0 Stellenbosch FC

Stellenbosch FC couldn’t follow up last weekend’s six-goal feat after a goalless draw against TS Galaxy at the Soshanguve Stadium, but still moved to the top of the table.

It was a tight contest from the onset, with very few clear-cut openings shown on either side and evidently led the clash to finish goalless at halftime.

Nothing changed after the interval despite a couple of bright moments as well as opportunities to go in front, but it finished honours-even in the end.

Richards Bay FC 1-3 Chippa United

Richards Bay FC’s five-match winning streak came crashing down after a disappointing 3-1 loss to Chippa United.

Free-scoring Ntonelo Bomelo got the ball rolling past 25 minutes played and helped the host carry the advantage into the tunnel, but matters turned following the interval.

This as an on-field dismissal had the Natal Rich Boys down to ten players after Thandoluhle Gazu was dismissed for committing an indiscretion.

Chippa utilised the man advantage to good effect and added two more goals before the host witnessed another dismissal late on in the form of Thabiso Dlamini.

Ultimately it separated the contest and allowed the Chilli Boys to bounce back from last weekend’s 6-1 mauling by Stellenbosch FC.

Golden Arrows 2-0 Cape Town Spurs

Golden Arrows returned to winning ways and moved into the top eight following a commanding 2-0 victory over a winless Cape Town Spurs.

The loss extends the Urban Warriors’ winless run to six matches, while Abafana Besthende bounce back from last weekend’s disappointing stalemate with Mamelodi Sundowns.

A brace in the first half from Sphiwe Nkabinde was all it took to separate the two teams, with the strikes coming minutes apart, continuing the Urban Warriors’ woeful run of form.

Moroka Swallows 0-0 Cape Town City

Moroka Swallows halted a seven-match losing run following a goalless draw against sixth-place Cape Town City in Dobsonville.

After going down 6-2 to Sekhukhune United last weekend, the Dube Birds managed to hold out against the Citizens who came off a 3-0 win over TS Galaxy.

The point leaves the Dube Birds in the bottom-three, with just two wins from 17 matches played so far with the Citizens right in the top-half.
