Orlando Pirates 3-0 SuperSport United

Orlando Pirates got back to winning way in the DStv Diski Challenge following a commanding 3-0 victory over reigning champions SuperSport United on Saturday.

Pirates didn’t take long to settle but were able to hit the ground running with an eight minute from finish from Gosiame Ngobeni off a goalkeeping error.

The returning Azola Matrose opened his account for the club before the half-hour mark courtesy of a calmly taken strike from the penalty spot as the visitors committed a foul in the penalty area.

Danger-man Mohau Nkota put the icing on the cake late in the second period with a superb execution from the edge of the area and send the reigning champions home empty handed.

Chippa United 1-6 Stellenbosch FC

Stellenbosch FC were in rampant mood after thumping Chippa United 6-1 to remain joint top of the table with Orlando Pirates.

A double from Keanan Johannesen and a contribution from Thulani Mini ensured the Maroons head to the halftime period in firm control.

The Maroons continued to run riot following the break, with Tylon Smith, Kyle Bailey and Langelihle Phili all on strike and putting daylight between them and the Chilli Boys.

Chippa did got one on the board but it proved just a consolation, as the Maroons claimed a dominant victory to maintain their unbeaten run and keep pace with Orlando Pirates at the top.

Mamelodi Sundowns 2-2 Golden Arrows

Mamelodi Sundowns failed to close the gap on the top-two on the table following a disappointing 2-2 draw with Golden Arrows.

Abafana Besthende raced to into a third minute lead through Samukelo Mlaba, who in the process bagged his sixth strike of the campaign.

However, the Tshwane giants were back on even terms as Siyanda Nyandga made full use of a delivery from a corner-kick and plucked out the back of the net.

The Tshwane didn’t need to bother after they went to the break in front courtesy of Onele Rulwana’s delightful free-kick, but Arrows stole a point late on through Siyabonga Khumalo.

Polokwane City 0-4 Richards Bay FC

Polokwane City just can’t seem to get in their own in order to move from the troubled zone after suffering a 4-0 loss to Richards Bay FC.

Rise and Shine trailed after just four minutes through Ashley Sewlall and fell further behind as Ntonelo Bomelo celebrated his first-team promotion in style with a finish from the spot.

This after Wandile Ngema went down in the box- only for Bomelo to bag a double a little in the second period with a calm effort and see the Natal Rich Boys to a handsome triumph.

Sekhukhune United 6-2 Moroka Swallows

Sekhukhune United bounced back from last weekend’s disappointing defeat and hammered a troubled Moroka Swallows 6-2.

The Dube Birds shocked the host with a two-goal lead in the opening ten minutes, but Keletso Sifama levelled matters by bagging two goals of his own.

Swallows went to the break trailing and their fast start was in vain as superb long-range drive from Alwande Mngwengwe blazed through and rattled the net.

Babina Noko didn’t stop to wreak havoc on the opponents and extended the lead just after halftime with a quick double from Jordan Marks before Kearabilwe Mphahlele put the final nail in the coffin at the death.
