Local legend Mlungisi 'Professor' Ngubane pleads with Bafana Bafana's head coach not to overuse Themba Zwane.

The 34-year-old has been a star for South Africa in the Africa Cup Of Nations tournament that is currently taking place in Ivory Coast.

To most people's surprise, on Tuesday the Mamelodi Sundowns star struggled against Morocco during their 2-0 win in the Last 16 stage encounter.

"People must never blame Sundowns again for signing too many players," Ngubane tells KickOff.

"Cause now, by the time these players reach the final they will be tired. Remember the league resumes on February 13. And there is no way Sundowns could be given a two-week break to recover before they resume their PSL schedule.

"The Sundowns players have played a very important role in this AFCON. Zwane, 34 years is not a small number.

"Playing every game at the age of 34 is no child's play, and as a coach, you are always tempted to start with your best players, that's the period where your opponents are vulnerable," he said.

"But I'd suggest Broos find someone who can take Zwane's place, that will allow Zwane to come on in the second half. I think Zwane's legs are tired now.

"I hope he rests well and recovers, because we have a very tough game on Saturday.

"Cape Verde just like us they are very hungry for success. They don't have big names in their squad, only hard workers.  So they want to do it for the first time."
