Moroka Swallows 0-4 Orlando Pirates

Orlando Pirates scrapped a four-match winless run in the DStv Diski Challenge with a 4-0 win over Moroka Swallows in the original Soweto Derby on Saturday.

A floating ball from a corner saw Mbekezeli Mbokazi on hand to capitalise just after the half-hour mark, leaving Gosiamo Ngobeni add a second from solid play by Cemran Dansin and Mohau Nkota.

Pirates pulled to the halftime period further ahead after Ciniso Mazibuko got a yard of space to collect a through ball from Nkota and slotted in comfortably.

Stellenbosch FC 3-2 AmaZulu

Stellenbosch FC recorded an entertaining 3-2 victory over the struggling AmaZulu and maintained the title aspirations in the process.

The victory keeps the Maroons title hopes alive – a week after seeing off fellow title- chasers Mamelodi Sundowns in a top-of-the-table encounter.

Goals from Simthandile Sishi, Tylon Smith and Ethan Felix did the business on the day despite the bit of fight shown by Usuthu through a double from Bayanda Thabede on the day.

TS Galaxy 2-3 SuperSport United

SuperSport United continued to cement top eight position and moved into fifth-place with an enterprising 3-2 victory over TS Galaxy.

Matsatsantsa made the opening earlier in the half through Lazola Maku and added more through debutant Lucky Muthewi and Thabang Mahlangu.

Galaxy did show a bit of fight in them, but it was nowhere near enough to withstand the visiting team and bore a disappointing defeat on home soil.

Mamelodi Sundowns 2-0 Chippa United

Mamelodi Sundowns reclaimed top spot in the DStv Diski Challenge after edging out the struggling Chippa United 2-0 on Sunday.

Sundowns seized the opener in the first spell and managed to go to the break with the advantage to their name – as the Chilli Boys battled firmly on the back-foot.

Masandawana rounded up the contest with a second late following the interval and moved back to the summit ahead of Stellenbosch FC who moved there after defeating AmaZulu on Saturday.

Kaizer Chiefs 1-3 Cape Town Spurs

Kaizer Chiefs chances to make a late surge for the title fell apart after a shock 3-1 defeat to Cape Town Spurs at the FNB Stadium.

The Amakhosi, who before this had gone on a seven-match unbeaten run and looked to stage a late title push, struggled to impose themselves this time around.

Spurs grabbed total control of the contest and in the end recorded a third successive win to remain in the top eight.

Cape Town City 8-0 Royal AM

Cape Town City were in merciless form and hammered a hapless Royal AM 8-0 to get back to winning ways and in so doing cement fifth-place.

The Citizens were dominant right from the start and entered the interval no more than four goals to the good, with Thwihli Thwahla firmly on the back-foot.

Another four were added by the host following the second half and ultimately left them to a resounding victory on their own turf.

Polokwane City 1-1 Golden Arrows

Golden Arrows succumbed to a second straight draw after allowing rock-bottom outfit Polokwane City to come from a goal down and claim a 1-1 stalemate.

Abafana Besthende hit the ground running in the opening five minutes when Asanda Mjilo profited and evidently led them to the break in the ascendancy.

City, who got just their second win of the season last weekend, rallied back and claimed the leveller when Lesiba Mello struck midway in the contest.

Richards Bay FC 1-1 Sekhukhune United

Richards Bay FC were denied the chance to follow-up on last weekend’s dominant triumph over TS Galaxy and settled for a 1-1 draw against Sekhukhune United.

Babina Noko, who held the mighty Orlando Pirates to a goalless stalemate last time out, trailed the Natal Rich Boys as Sfundo Khanyile made the breakthrough.

However, Babina Noko didn’t take long to response but clawed level in the matter of minutes through none other than Kamohelo Sithole.
