Cape Town Spurs 2-1 Orlando Pirates

Orlando Pirates disappointingly lost top spot in the DStv Diski Challenge following a 2-1 defeat to Cape Town Spurs on the road on Sunday.

The defeat comes as a huge blow to Joseph Makhanya’s men, who before this match were on a three-match winning streak.

On the other hand, Spurs bounce back from last weekend’s loss to the defending champions SuperSport United to sit steadily in mid-table standing.

Sekhukhune United 1-4 Stellenbosch FC

Stellenbosch FC took full advantage of Orlando Pirates’ slip up and ascended to second spot after brushing Sekhukhune United 4-1 in Vanderbiljpark.

The Maroons hit front gear right from the start and ventured into the break with a healthy three-goals cushion, leaving Babina Noko with a mountain to climb.

Babina Noko did pull one back but it was mere consolation as Jordan Marks netted from the spot, but still the Maroons enjoyed full control whilst the host had Tlaka Karabo dismissed for a rash tackle.

Richards Bay FC 0-1 Mamelodi Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns made full use of Orlando Pirates slip up in the title run-in and edged Richards Bay FC 1-0 to move to the top of the table.

With no goals in the first half, the Brazilians took control of matters and netted what would in the end prove to be the winner minutes past the break.

The Tshwane giants were able to contain their advantage throughout the course of the clash and secured a fifth successive win in the process.

Cape Town City 6-1 Polokwane City

Cape Town City resumed winning ways in fine style and totally hammered bottom-placed Polokwane City 6-1 to cement fifth-place on the table.

Having lost narrowly to title-chasing Mamelodi Sundowns over the past weekend, the Citizens bounced back in style to remain in touching distance of maiden title.

Whereas for Rise and Shine, the woes continue down the foot of the standings with still only one win recorded from 21 matches contested to date.

Kaizer Chiefs 4-1 Moroka Swallows

Kaizer Chiefs cemented fourth-place on the table after blowing Soweto rivals Moroka Swallows away 4-1 to keep their slim title hopes alive.

It’s the Amakhosi’s third successive win a row and furthermore are on a four-match unbeaten run, with their last defeat against SuperSport United.

Swallows are still down the bottom-three, with the least wins recorded of all teams and on a two-match losing streak.

Golden Arrows 2-2 SuperSport United

SuperSport United came from two goals down to hold Golden Arrows to an entertaining 2-2 draw in the DStv Diski Challenge on Saturday.

Arrows were well on their way and grabbed the lead at halftime through Siyabonga Khumalo, but a stunning strike from Jabu Matsio clawed United back on equal terms.

The reprieve didn’t last long as Abafana Besthende reclaimed the lead from a nicely taken finish by Asanda Mjilo, but Matsatsantsa rescued a point later on courtesy of Keabetswe Khonyane.

TS Galaxy 1-1 AmaZulu

TS Galaxy recovered from last weekend’s narrow defeat against Kaizer Chiefs to hold AmaZulu to a 1-1 draw and maintained their place in the top-half.

Very little followed between the two from the start, and efforts minutes from each other ultimately forced them to settle for a point apiece.

Royal AM 5-2 Chippa United

Royal AM recorded back-to-back wins to edge in towards the top eight following a dominant 5-2 victory over Chippa United.

Thwihli Thwahla were extremely dominant right from the get-go and actually went to the break in the lead boasting four goals to their name.

Despite a response from the Chilli Boys, evidently probing a comeback, Thwihli Thwahla still ended on the winning side after taking full control of matters in the amidst of a dismissal.
