AmaZulu 0-3 Mamelodi Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns reclaimed second spot in the DStv Diski Challenge following a comprehensive 5-0 victory over the basement boys AmaZulu on Sunday.

Masandawna briefly dropped down to third-place due to Stellenbosch FC’s thorough triumph over Polokwane City a day earlier, but fortunately enough picked up pace once more to regain second spot.

This largely due to efforts that caught the host unaware and ultimately led to yet another defeat under new coach Andile Cele.

Richards Bay FC 0-5 Kaizer Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs maintained their slim hopes of the title and remained in the top-four after crushing Richards Bay FC 5-0 in the KwaZulu-Natal province.

The intentions from the Amakhosi were clear from the get-go and raced into a two-goal lead at halftime -leaving the Natal Rich Boys with an uphill battle.

More goals came from the Soweto giants following the second stanza, as the Natal Rich Boys couldn’t get a way back and the Amakhosi stormed to a dominant victory.

Royal AM 3-5 Orlando Pirates

Orlando Pirates came from two goals down at halftime to scrape past Royal AM 5-3 in an entertaining goal-feast in the DStv Diski Challenge on Saturday.

Thwihli Thwahla could the Buccaneers napping in the opening half and struck twice to go to the break on the front-foot.

Joseph Makhanya’s troops earnestly staged a turnaround upon the resumption through none other than star man Mohau Nkota before Mpumelelo Ndaba levelled it up a little later on.

In a frenetic closing, Royal regained the lead though the Buccaneers bounced back instantly courtesy of 16-year-old Aphelele Nzimande – prompting Nkota to complete his brace in the final stages.

Young Ndaba added to the woes of the home side right at the death when he put the contest to bed with a fantastic long-range finish.

Polokwane City 1-3 Stellenbosch FC

Stellenbosch FC bounced back from last weekend’s disappointing against the holders SuperSport United to brush Polokwane City aside 3-1 in Limpopo.

The victory ensures the Maroons, who won the title two seasons ago, remain in the hunt as Rise and Shine’s return to the big time continues down the quagmire with just one win to show.

SuperSport United 4-1 Chippa United

Defending champions SuperSport United overturned an early deficit to edge Chippa United 4-1 and registered back-to-back victories.

There were no goals recorded in the first half, but the Chilli Boys were first to get on the front foot following the resumption only for Neo Rapoo to level things up.

More goals from the title holders materialised where in no particular order Jabu Matsio, Thabang Makhubo and Kabelo Selowa netted to get them over the line.

Golden Arrows 0-0 Moroka Swallows

Golden Arrows failed to get back to winning ways and cement their top-half position following a goalless draw against the struggling Moroka Swallows.

The result keep Abafana Besthende rooted in the top eight though, while the Dube Birds remain in treacherous territory down the bottom-three bracket of the table standings.

Cape Town Spurs 3-1 TS Galaxy

Cape Town Spurs snapped a sixth-match winless run in the league with a 3-1 victory over TS Galaxy out on their own turf.

The victory boosts their spot in the mid-table bracket, whereas the loss extends the Rockets run without victory to four matches.

Given the win, the Urban Warriors lie ninth on the table with the Rockets sitting three spots down in 12th position.

Cape Town City 3-1 Sekhukhune United

Cape Town City staged a sharp turnaround to overcome Sekhukhune United 3-1 and continue their strong push towards the top of the table.

Babina Noko got the breakthrough inside the opening minutes courtesy of Jordan Marks, but the Citizens overturned matters through Gabriel Amato, Luke Daniels and Cee-Jay Bezuidenhout.
