Polokwane City 0-5 Mamelodi Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns continued to keep pace with the front-runners in pursuit of the title and hammered bottom-place Polokwane City 5-0.

The Brazilians were fresh from a last-gasp triumph over fellow contenders Orlando Pirates, but needed a bigger statement to alert their challengers, as City’s dismal campaign continues.

Orlando Pirates 1-0 Golden Arrows

Orlando Pirates overcame last weekend’s disappointment against Mamelodi Sundowns to edge Golden Arrows 1-0 and return to the summit of the DStv Diski Challenge table on Saturday.

For Arrows, the loss dents their chances to close the gap on the pace-setters following last weekend’s win over Cape Town Spurs and remain in mid-table.

Both teams didn’t cause too many early forays, though the Buccaneers proved the strongest as Azola Matrose’s clever shot ricochet into the net to give them a crucial win.

Kaizer Chiefs 3-3 Royal AM

Kaizer Chiefs needed to stage a dramatic comeback to hold Royal AM to a 3-3 draw in a thrilling encounter at the FNB Stadium.

Chiefs needed to come from behind after the break as Thwihli had gone ahead through two solid executions moments apart.

Nonetheless, the Amakhosi were spared though after a double from Neo Bohloko in addition to Siphesihle Tati’s contribution got them a share of the spoils.

Cape Town City 2-1 Richards Bay FC

Cape Town City got back to winning ways to leapfrog Richards Baya FC to sixth-place after beating them 2-1 at the Malta Park.

The Natal Rich Boys seized the first initiative past ten minutes through Siphesihle Buthelezi following a breath-taking counter-attack.

City didn’t lose hope and managed to get on even terms on the half-hour mark courtesy of a well-taken finish by Aviwe Ndevu.

However, the Citizens maintained control and went on to grab the winner to go above the Natal Rich Boys on the league standings.

Cape Town Spurs 1-1 Moroka Swallows

Cape Town Spurs and Moroka Swallows played to a 1-1 draw in a tightly contested bottom-half engagement in the mother city.

It’s been a campaign to forget for both – least the Dube Birds with just two wins to date whilst the Urban Warriors came unstuck against Golden Arrows last time out.

The point doesn’t elevate their positions on the table, but keep either side around the bottom-half quagmire as the campaign heads to the business end.

Sekhukhune United 0-0 TS Galaxy

Sekhukhune United and TS Galaxy could not be separated after cancelling out each other with a tough goalless draw.

It’s back-to-back stalemates for the two, and in particular another goalless one for the Rockets following last weekend’s outcome against title-chasing Stellenbosch FC.

Chippa United 0-3 AmaZulu

AmaZulu rekindled their campaign as well as fight against relegation through a dominant 3-0 drubbing over Chippa United in Gqeberha.

Yanga Mfolozi’s brace and a finish by Mfoka Makhathini steered the struggling outfit to the comprehensive victory which eased their battle down the quagmire.

Stellenbosch FC 1-2 SuperSport United

Stellenbosch FC failed to return to the top of the DStv Diski Challenge following a disappointing 2-1 loss to SuperSport United on Sunday.

A first half stunner from Siviwe Magidigidi steered the Tshwane giants in the lead and saw the host with their backs against the wall.

Granted a reply by the Maroons, the Tshwane outfit still emerged with all the points as Thabang Mahlangu combined with Lazola Maku to fire home.
