Marumo Galllants FC bowed out of the CAF Confederation Cup following a 4-1 aggregate defeat to Young Africans in the semi-finals on Wednesday evening.
Bahlabane Ba Ntwa made three changes from the first-leg defeat as Lebohang Mabotja, Celimpilo Ngema as well as Lesiba Nku returned to the field.
It was a decent start to the encounter for the host, who were eager to register first though the newly-crowned Tanzanian champions pulled out all the stops.
The home team continued to show courage in possession as well through all phases of play in a desperate attempt to get back in the overall tie.
On the other hand, the outfit from the East African region were eager to hold and add to their cushion from the first encounter and gradually started to come alive.
Young Africans did manage to find rhythm on the back of a pretty underwhelming opening and were in front on the stroke of halftime through a smart finish from Fiston Mayele.
Marumo coach Raymond Mdaka pulled out two substitutions ahead of the second half in Monde Mphambaniso in the place of Mabotja before Katlego Otladisa filled in for Sibusiso Sibeko.
However, Young Africans didn’t seem to troubled by the additions midway in the resumption and in fact doubled their lead after Mayele showed quick pace to set up Kennedy Musonda for a calm finish.
Mdaka made another doubled change towards the remaining ten minutes as Edgar Manaka came on for Tshepo Gumede and Letsie Koapeng ventured out for Mahlatse Makudubela.
The initiative brought some effect as Ranga Chivaviro finished off a delivery from Mohomi in the dying minutes, but there were no comeback and left Young Africans to victory and the final.
