Relegation-threatened DStv Premiership club Marumo Gallants have raised a hand of defiance in declaring that they can still reach the final of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Marumo went down 2-0 away at Tanzania champions Young Africans on Wednesday afternoon.

It was a game in which they got a fair share of chances but ultimately ended up conceding twice after former Orlando Pirates attacker Bernard Morrison scrambled home a late second goal after Stephane Aziz Ki opened the scoring.

"Just that we lost it, but we feel that it is a game that we should not have lost," insists Raymond Mdaka, interim coach at Marumo.

"I think we got more of the chances missing four chances in a row which were mostly goal scoring opportunities.

"They got two chances and scored two goals, all in the second half.

"But looking at the game it is one that we felt wasn’t difficult, but it is just that we could not convert our chances.

"On that basis we still feel we are still there.

"We are still going to play the second leg irrespective of saying we are playing at home.

"In terms of the play itself it is one game that we feel we can come back and win," he says pointing out to how they hope to reverse the scores next Wednesday evening at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.

"We hope all the players that were not there due to injury will be back when we play at home.

"Remember, we were once in this situation when we played USMA who looked far much better than the team that we were playing today (Wednesday).

"We are not undermining them, but we feel we can still make it.

"We just need to get an early goal which will obviously unsettle them and put them under pressure.

"As long as we will not concede we definitely feel we have a chance to go to the final," Mdaka whose team still has the headache of surviving the drop in the DStv Premiership.
