KickOff readers react to claims that Pitso Mosimane belittled some players at Al Ahly.

A number of supporters have defended coach Pitso Mosimane after one of his former players accused him of belittling some of the Al Ahly players during his tenure. Here's a look!

The story

Former Al Ahly star Nassr Maher recently claimed that Mosimane was the reason he didn't succeed at Al Ahly, as the South African boss treated him poorly.

KickOff readers on Facebook have expressed their opinions on the matter, with many acknowledging that it is difficult for a manager to please every player in his team.

"He belittled them but got the results for the team, hence they won the CL," says Bongani Mgubela.

"The problem with Pitso is he gets too emotional at times," says Katlego Michael.

"He is bitter that Pitso benched him," says Tumisang Mamabolo.

"You know one thing we as players forget is that the coach always takes the blame for our bad performance. That is why as a coach now, I don't take nonsense from players. It's either you get with the program or you ship out. It's as simple as that. We all have jobs to secure here and not egos," says Mzuvukile Nakani.

"Congratulations to a former Al Ahly star for being treated poorly," says Skhokho Groovein.

"Won the Champions lLague and defended it. I wonder if the current will defend it," says Zakes Mapoyi.

"They must leave our coach alone now. Not everyone will be happy if you have big squad," says Lubabalo Desmond.

"Are they players or models," says Tebatso Sello Montsha.

"Reminds me of Tony Silva," says Katlego Kaygee Kekana.

"Pitso doesn't have a superstar in his team. He tells it like it is," says Siyabonga Maverick Nxumalo.

"This is football and you can't be fair to everyone," says Phorane Masha.

Meanwhile, readers also weighed in on Bafana Bafana climbing up the FIFA rankings and now being among the 10 highest-ranked teams in Africa.

"Improvement from Bafana," says Fredrick Cochrane.

"This rating system made by journalists who have never played football is the reason why CAF is always in decline. Big tournaments like AFCON should carry more points. For one, points are given based on the league teams players play in, and if that league has been unfairly rated, then those points are less. How, for instance, do three goalkeepers playing in a league rated 5th in Africa, end up battling for the goalkeeper of the tournament," says Phatludi P Masite.

"Tjeer, 58th in the world. Sigh," says Neo Mofokeng.

"South Africa top 10," says Mosione Didi Vilakazi.

"Not qualifying for the last World Cup and AFCON 2021 cost Bafana Bafana valuable points. We could have been in the top 4 after Morocco, Senegal and Nigeria after this AFCON and possibly number 30 globally - that would have meant being number one should we win the 2025 AFCON. To achieve number one status in Africa, we have to win the 2025 AFCON and at least quarter-finals in the World Cup 2026 to take us into the top 20 in the world. The system is not rigged, if Morocco won this AFCON they would be at least 3rd place on Earth," says Mphahlele Thakgatso.

"We must cement our position in the top 10," says Bongani Mbazo Selepe.

"Not bad," says Mpendulo Ndabenhle Ngcobo.

"Cape Verde only has beautiful ladies," says Nkhos'siphile Homeboy Msibi.

"SA is doing well at position 10 while Ghana has made steps backwards from 11 to 14," says Twoto Tsebo.
