Kaizer Chiefs star Sibongiseni Ox Mthethwa boasts a style that resembles that of a South African maskandi artist and what is often referred to an ‘Inkabi’ look. Let’s take a closer look!
The story
The midfielder joined Amakhosi from Stellenbosch FC in September 2023. Since then, he has been one of the consistent performers in a middling Chiefs, making six starts in the eight matches he has been available for this term, according to Transfermarkt.
As a result of his reliable displays, he has been in and around the Bafana Bafana squad but was unfortunate to miss out the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations team, as he was said to be placed on the stand-by list. Given the fact that the Glamour Boys having been lacking representation in the national team in recent times, the KwaZulu-Natal is certainly doing something right.

It is also off the field where he commands a lot off attention but perhaps for reasons unexpected to most. Mthethwa's fashion sense been gaining a lot of popularity on social media over the years, as it is a famous look for maskhandi musicians. Big Zulu, a KZN artist, has been one of the individuals who have seemingly popularised the style with his nkabi persona.
The look often comprises pleated chino trousers, loafer shoes - often Carvela, and golfer tees and jerseys. The attires is extremely unique, as it dates back to black taxi drivers in the 80s and 90s in KZN and parts of Joburg.
Some will have noticed that Mthethwa always has his shirt tucked in when wearing his match kit and that is also the case when he is off the pitch. Caps, watches, and buckle belts are also an important part of the drip.
It appears that the 29-year-old is dressed by a label that specialises in this particular style, Crawl Clothing Company. On the brand's official Instagram account, the former Stellies star has be seen modelling a few outfits.

Although it's not a universally recognised form of style, the truth is that it is overly neat and snazzy. One would imagine that seeing anyone dressed in such a way is indeed from South Africa without any hesitations. Some have admitted that this look is not only a fashion style but represents a certain social culture.
