Pitso Mosimane has lost his job as Bafana Bafana head coach after he was fired just after midnight.
Mosimane immediately left the team hotel at Royal Marang in Phokeng, Rustenburg after his sacking was confirmed by Safa CEO Robin Peterson. Peterson had earlier in the evening driven from Safa House in Johannesburg to Rustenburg to convey the message to Bafana's technical team, after the association’s executive met earlier in the day to deliberate on Bafana Bafana’s poor showing of late. Bafana have failed to win a match in seven official games, including the 1-1 draw with Ethiopia on Sunday. Steve Komphela, who was roped in as Mosimane’s assistant early in April, will take charge on an interim basis. Komphela will be in charge of Bafana’s World Cup qualifier against Botswana on Saturday, June 9 in Gaborone and the friendly international against Gabon on June 15. KickOff.com reported earlier on Monday that Safa were drafting an offer for Moroka Swallows coach Gordon Igesund, but he is currently in China with the Dube Birds. Follow me on Twitter @TTM16
