Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena has expressed his desire to stay at the club after they bowed out of the CAF Champions League.

Sundowns were eliminated out of the CAF Champions League in the semi-finals by Wydad after a 1-0 loss in the second-leg and 2-0 loss on aggregate on Friday.

Mokwena, however, believes they were tactically superior but they just could not find the back of the net.

"Ja, maybe efficient is the right word to describe them and a smash-and-grab. We had all the play, we had all the chances. I thought we got the tactics right. We exposed them in a lot of areas that we wanted to expose them in," Mokwena said on SABC Sport.

"We created a lot of chances, the tempo was good and I can't fault the players. I wanna give them a huge round of applause because they tried everything and I'm very proud of them and I hope Masandawana fans are proud of them because they played very well, they gave it everything on the pitch.

"We just have to keep going. How many semi-finals have we played in the last ten years? Maybe four? So we just have to keep going. Teams like Esperance have played five, six, seven maybe continental semi-finals in a row."

The 37-year-old was asked if he needed more time to finally qualify Sundowns to the CAF Champions League final.

"I don't run the football club, do I? I'm here because of the results and if the results are not good enough, I won't be here.

"So I wanna be here, I love this club. I love the supporters of this club, I love this incredible group of players. I wanna be here. But as you rightfully say, it's a result-oriented business and that's where we are," he added.
