Official: Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic joins Eintracht Frankfurt on loan

Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic has returned to Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt on loan for the remainder of the season.

Eintracht have announced that Serbia international Jovic will be returning to the club for the remainder of the 2020/21 season after a loan agreement was reached with Los Blancos.

"Eintracht Frankfurt can count on Luka Jovic's services until the end of this season," the club said in an official statement. "The striker, who was in the Hessen squad between 2017 and 2019, is returning to Main from Real Madrid on loan. The contract runs until the end of the season. Jovic gets the shirt number nine in Frankfurt."

After scoring 36 goals in 75 appearances during his previous spell with the German club, the 23-year-old joined Zinedine Zidane's side for a reported figure of €60 million (R1.1 billion) but has failed to deliver on his price tag thus far.

The former Red Star Belgrade and Benfica star has managed just two goals in 32 appearances for the reigning LaLiga champions and has returned to Eintracht in order to rediscover his form.

"Luka didn't have an easy time in Madrid recently. It is important for him to get back on track. It was his great wish to return to Eintracht," Sporting Director Fredi Bobic said.

"Luka can use the next few months to find his way back to old strength in a familiar environment. Real Madrid know that he is in good hands with us and that he can develop here. And it is clear to us that we have another excellent option in the storm center. "
