Liverpool star to Barcelona? Slot breaks his silence!

With a certain Liverpool star linked with a big move to FC Barcelona, the Reds' new boss Arne Slot has now broken his silence on the potential exit.

Liverpool are yet to make a single signing in the current window, and recently lost out on highly sought-after Spain midfielder Martin Zubimendi's signature from Real Sociedad after he decided to stay in the Basque city.

The Merseysiders have also parted way with five first-team players in this window, namely Thiago Alcantara, Calvin Ramsay (on loan), Joel Matip, Adrian, and Fabio Carvalho, who was the latest to depart in a €23.4 million (R460 million) move to Brentford.

Now, with the 2024/25 Premier League campaign imminent, if reports are to be believed, Liverpool could lose a sixth player in the form of Luis Diaz, who is said to be the subject of serious interest from Barca.

Diaz was also linked with Manchester City a few days ago, and the question around the Colombian's future was put forward to the Reds' new manager Slot on Friday afternoon.

According to the Metro, the Dutchman replied: "When I walked in, the whole day is about talking about football, it's no surprise I hear speculation about Diaz.

"Is there anyone we don't talk about?

"His future is with us. I like a lot of what I saw. He has had a big impact on Liverpool and I hope he has one for the coming season."

Asked about Zubimendi turning down the move to Anfield, Slot added: "I said many times already our squad is really strong so it is not easy to find players to strengthen.

"Zubimendi was one but he chose not to come here so we go forward with the ones we have.

"We're in a good place and Richard [Hughes, Liverpool sporting director] is trying to improve the squad in the background.

"Zubimendi didn't want to come and Richard tried everything. We kept the same team but lost Thiago, Joel and Adrian, and you always talk about transfers, but we have a positive team already."
