GALLERY: The rise and rise of Percy Tau

Bafana Bafana star Percy Tau has enjoyed an impressive rise to becoming one of the few South Africans to have played in the UEFA Champions League group stages.

Tau helped his Belgian club Club Brugge qualify for Europe's elite club competition on Wednesday evening as he set up the winning goal in stoppage time to over Austrian side LASK in their second leg play-off round.

Check out the gallery above to re-live the road Tau paved for himself, to where he is today. Images feature a young Tau during his days at Witbank Spurs as well as his bagging of the Footballer of the Season in a three-piece suit.

The 25-year-old, who is on loan from Premier League side Brighton Hove Albion, becomes the first South African to ply his trade at this level since Dino Ndlovu in 2017 and could now have the opportunity to rub shoulders with the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
