Baroka's Oscarine Masuluke wants your FIFA Puskas Award vote for wonder goal against Orlando Pirates

Masuluke's overhead kick against Bucs in a 1-1 draw in November 2016 has made a 10-man shortlist for the annual Puskas Award, which will be handed out on October 23.

He faces competition from the likes of Kevin-Prince Boateng, Olivier Giroud, Mario Mandzukic and Nemanja Matic for the prestigious accolade.

Masuluke appeared a shoo-in for the PSL's Goal of the Season prize in 2016/17, but Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala picked up the gong in what amounted to a popularity contest.

The Bakgaga man is hopeful a similar situation doesn't play out on a grander stage.

"I'm more than happy for such special recognition," Masuluke tells snl24.com/kickoff.

"It's the first time I'm being recognised for such an award. Not every player can be nominated for FIFA awards but I feel okay, no stress.

"The only thing I wish and pray for is that my goal makes the top three. I plead with the people of South Africa to vote for me. I'm the only South African in these awards competing with people who are playing overseas. I plead with everyone to take their time to vote, and not repeat the same mistake they did in the Absa Premiership awards by voting only with their mouths, assuming 'yeah, it's obvious Oscarine's goal is going to take it'. No please, let's vote."

Mamelodi Sundowns skipper Hlompho Kekana was nominated for the same award last term with a long-range strike on Bafana Bafana duty against Cameroon.
