Pirates were outplayed by Matsatsantsa for the second season running in the Nedbank Cup final, and probably should have lost by a greater margin after SuperSport also missed a penalty.
“Of course it is a nightmare, this is not what we had hoped for,” Jonevret told SuperSport TV. “A fantastic atmosphere, all these supporters here and we wanted to have a little bit of a revenge for what happened earlier in the season.”
Jonevret would not pinpoint where it wrong for his side, except to say they lost to the better team.
“There is not so much to talk about, they [SuperSport] where a much better team than us today. But at the same time, I thought in the first half we were a little afraid when we had the ball.
“They stepped up pretty high and I liked that, but there were too many players that were ball-watching.
“We gave up the goal, but still, 1-0 is not too bad, but in the second half the players started doing crazy things and not following the game-plan. But I can understand there was frustration out there.”
Jonevret says it is back to the drawing board for the new campaign.
“We have a lot of ideas [for the future], SuperSport today were better than us, but hopefully we can build something for next season. There is two or three weeks break and then we are there [training] again.
“It is going to be tough for us, you saw that today. We had some problems out there.”
