In the latest edition of Negotiating Behind The Scenes, former striker Lungisani Ndlela reveals why he wouldn't have made a move to Mamelodi Sundowns if he could turn back the hands of time.
Who I signed for?
"SuperSport United. I remember very well I was still at Swallows playing in the Phyllis Games, Swallows loved taking part in those kasi tournaments. Our coach at the time was Gavin Hunt.
"SuperSport United coach Pitso Mosimane and his assistant Thomas Madigage had come to watch. We were at Mehlareng."
How did you find out?
"After our game, Pitso and Thomas sent some guy to come and tell me to go and wait for them near the stadium toilets.
"Once I got there Pitso said to me, we want you to join us at SuperSport, do you want to join us? Leave Swallows and come to us, we will set you up nicely.
"SuperSport had no strikers then, they only had Dane Studzinski and Tico-Tico Bucuane. That's how I found myself at SuperSport."
Where did you meet?
"In the SuperSport United $offices."
Who was there?
"Stan Matthews was there, my agent was there, as well as the club's chairman Khulu Sibiya."
What surprised you?
"Money. What SuperSport put on the table was way better than what I was earning at Swallows."
Did you get what you wanted?
"Everything even a personal sponsorship, I signed with Diadora. Pitso said to me, all we want from you are goals, my boy, then you will see I will make you play for Bafana Bafana. That is how I got to play at Bafana."
Did you see out the contract?
"No, I didn't. I had signed for three years but ended up staying for about 18 months. Sundowns came for me, and I signed with them."
What you would change?
"I'd stay at SuperSport and not move to Sundowns. I was treated very well at SuperSport, I should have just negotiated for a better deal and not left.
"At SuperSport I was brilliant."
