CAF Champions League match report Mamelodi Sundowns v Otoho d'Oyo 24 August 2019

Mamelodi Sundowns kept their CAF Champions League campaign after thrashing AS Otoho d'Oyo 4-0 in the second-leg of their preliminary round on Saturday evening at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

The Brazilians brought back experienced left-back Tebogo Langerman to the line-up, while Andile Jali replaced Hlompho Kekana, who was suspended after getting a red card in the first leg.

Sundowns were awarded a penalty in the 14th minute after Lebohang Maboe was brought down inside the box. Gaston Sirino made no mistake with a resultant penalty, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way with a powerful strike. Five minutes later, Masandawana were dealt a blow Thapelo Morena picked up an injury and was replaced by Anele Ngcongca.

The substitute did not affect the rhythm as Pitso Mosimane's men doubled their lead in the 25th minute after Sibusiso Vilakazi's shot took a deflection off the Otoho goalkeeper and sailed towards the far post, where Mosa Lebusa was on hand to finish it off at close range,

Sirino grabbed his brace ten minutes before the break, with a delicate curler from the edge of the box, while Themba Zwane made it 4-0 with six minutes remaining of the first stanza, tucking home a shot from the centre of the six-yard box

Zwane and Vilakazi both had clear chances for the Brazilians five minutes inside the second stanza to put the game out of Otoho's reach, but they dilly-dallied inside the box in quick succession, giving the visitors' shot-stopper moments to make close-range blocks.

Sirino almost completed his hat-trick with 23 minutes remaining after hitting the woodwork, although that proved to be his final bit of action as the South American made way for Emiliano Tade for the latter stages of the half..

The Congolese outfit were fighting for a consolation goal in the closing stages but the hosts remained resolute and held on for 4-0 the win on the night and 5-2 aggregate in the tie.
