Mamelodi Sundowns advanced to the CAF Champions League group stages after thrashing Cote d'Or 11-1 in the second leg in Tshwane on Friday evening. Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane made seven changes from last week's win over Maritzburg United in Kennedy Mweene, Motjeka Madisha, Wayne Arendse, Lyle Lakay, Oupa Manyisa, Andile Jali and Sphelele Mkhulise. Masandawana went on the front foot after nine minutes when Themba Zwane fired home from close range inside the area. The Islanders saw their misery compounded ten minutes later after Gaston Sirino showed composure for a simple tap-in. Sibusiso Vilakazi extended their lead even further on 21 minutes as the Bafana international made no mistake from close metres. Vilakazi added his second of the evening within three minutes with another simple finish as the visitors went to sleep at the back. With Sundowns comfortably ahead, Mosimane made a change nine minutes to halftime, as Mkhulise made way for Anele Ngcongca. Vilakazi finally grabbed his hat-trick in the 39th minute as he capitalised from poor defending for a cool finish, before Masandawana made it six at halftime after Thapelo Morena rose high in the area to head home 43 minutes in. Motjeka Madisha joined the partying act two minutes from halftime, as the utility player lashed home a well-taken shot for their seventh of the day. After coming on in the first half, Ngcongca grabbed his first goal for the club in the 57th minute as he burst through the defence to fire home. Masandawana just weren't letting up in the final 15 minutes as Themba Zwane lost his marker for a powerful first-time finish. Sundowns went to double figures on 77 minutes when Berniot turned Sirino's cross into his own net, although the visitors pulled a goal back two minutes later through Voavy. Mauricio Affonso grabbed a debut goal for Sundowns on 82 minutes two minutes after replacing Morena, as Masandawana cruised into the group stages with a 16-1 aggregate victory.
