Wydad boss accept 'players' request' regarding Rulani

Wydad Casablanca's management have reportedly accepted the players' request regarding head coach Rulani Mokwena.

Wydad have registered four successive draws in the league before the international break, denting their hopes of securing a CAF Champions League spot.

With RS Berkane already crowned champions, Wydad are third in the table and are battling second-placed AS FAR Rabat and FUS Rabat for the final Champions League berth.

Kooora have reported that the senior players met with club president Hicham Ait Mena this week after the 1-1 draw with Ittihad Tanger.

The report claims that the players defended Mokwena to the club president and instead put the blame on bad luck and took responsibility themselves.

It was also reported that Wydad's club management were convinced by the players' words and will support Mokwena staying in charge of the club at least until the end of the season.

Mokwena spoke passionately about wanting to get things right with Wydad following last week's draw.

"If I am convinced that the plan is the cause, or that I am responsible for the current situation, I will immediately return to my country. I love this club, and I am trying to help it as much as I can. We are going through a difficult period, and we must all fix the situation."

"Wydad will compete for second place until the last round, and we have to fight to achieve it."
