After playing out to a thrilling 3-3 draw on Monday night, a Germany star has criticised his team's performance against an England side he claims "didn't really want to play".

After England's relegation from League A of the UEFA Nations League last week, the Three Lions concluded their campaign with an exciting stalemate against the Germans at Wembley on Monday.

Hansi Flick's side dominated proceedings for the better part of the match, having 60% of possession in the tie.

While the two teams remained scoreless in the first half, the 2014 FIFA World Cup winners came out strong in the second, with a penalty by Ilkay Gundogan and a superb long-range strike by Kai Havertz seeing the away team grab a 2-0 lead by the 67th minute.

The deficit would quickly be reduced, however, as Luke Shaw pulled one back for England just four minutes later before Mason Mount levelled the scores with 75 minutes played.

Gareth Southgate's men completed the turnaround through a Harry Kane penalty with 83 minutes gone to give the 2020 UEFA European Championship finalists the lead.

However, an error by Three Lions goalkeeper Nick Pope was latched on to by Havertz late in the match to see the two nations share the spoils.

Despite managing to avoid defeat after being 3-2 down late in the tie, Die Mannschaft midfielder Joshua Kimmich was left unimpressed by his team's performance as he felt their opponents were there for the taking.

"We had the game under control and were 2-0 up; England just played on the counter-attack," Kimmich said, according to Bavarian Football Works.

"After the 2-0 we become too passive and weren't brave enough against the ball.

"It's actually inexplicable because England didn't really want to play."
