Belgian star Romelu Lukaku has reportedly received a shock €50 million (R1 billion) contract offer, amid uncertainty over his future at Inter Milan and Chelsea.

The striker is due to return to his parent club Chelsea at the end of this month after spending the entire 2022/23 season in the books of Inter.

He is believed to have a broken relationship with the Blues as well as its supporters, and has previously revealed he feels more comfortable with the Serie A team instead.

However, Inter find themselves going through an unfavourable financial situation and remain in debt after taking out a €275 million (R5.5 billion) emergency loan in 2021 from the investment firm Oaktree Capital following huge fiscal losses during the Covid-19 pandemic.

As such, the Nerazzurri will have to sell a few players in the upcoming transfers window and some senior officials at the San Siro have suggested that they are likely unable to meet Chelsea's valuation of the player given that the Premier League outfit paid a hefty €113 million (R2.2 billion), to sign the marksman almost two years ago.

According to Goal, a new solution has been presented to the player, as he now been given a €25 million per season offer by Al Hilal after they were recently snubbed by Lionel Messi.

The Saudi Arabian team wants the 30-year-old on a two-season term, with the centre-forward also said to be very much open to a switch to the Gulf State, albeit he will first try to squeeze an even larger salary out of the club.

The report also claims that Al Hilal will enter talks with Chelsea over a potential deal, with the west London side having set an asking price of around €50 million (R1 billion), although this fee is believed to have created a reluctance from the Riyadh giants.

Meanwhile, new manager Mauricio Pochettino has open to having Lukaku in his team in 2023/24.
