After Zlatan Ibrahimovic claimed Argentina "will not win anything more" following their controversial 2022 FIFA World Cup celebrations, Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero has hammered the Sweden international for his remarks.

Earlier this week, Ibrahimovic became the latest to criticise the world champions' wild celebrations after their triumph in Qatar in December.

The Albiceleste have been accused by many, including suspended French Football Federation president Noel Le Graet, of unsporting behaviour after a few of their players mocked French superstar Kylian Mbappe in the final and during their celebrations after the tournament.

Argentine No. 1 Emiliano Martinez was considered the main antagonist after taunting the 24-year-old star during chants in the dressing room and holding up a doll with Mbappe's face during the team's trophy parade in Buenos Aires, with FIFA having confirmed that they have opened an investigation into the incidents.

Ibrahimovic revealed earlier this week that he found the South Americans' behaviour disrespectful, and insisted that they will not win anything going forward as a result

The AC Milan striker's comments have since prompted a scathing response from Aguero, who was on the pitch when Argentina lifted the golden trophy in the Middle East.

"Let's remember that you also behaved badly, right?" he said, according to Goal.

"I remember that we played against [Manchester] United. I was on the bench. You were provoking, you were talking back.

"I think that before worrying about Argentina, you should worry about your country, about your players, who aren't even in the last World Cups. They didn't even qualify, but well, I don't know.

"I remember that you fought with [Nicolas] Otamendi in a game between City and United. You argued with Pep Guardiola. I imagine that's why he wanted to sell you from Barcelona.

"You disrespected my teammates. What's more, maybe you're also talking to me because I was there. I feel like you shot me and now I'm shooting you.

"We are world champions, Zlatan, and you want to kill yourself. Messi is the best in the world, I'm sorry."
