Manchester City booked their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup with a 1-0 win away to Tottenham Hotspur on Friday night.

Oscar Bobb's heroics against Newcastle United earned him a start in the City line-up, but coach Pep Guardiola opted to keep Kevin de Bruyne on the bench once again.

City thought they had they take the lead on eight minutes through Bobb's close-range finish, but the offside flag had gone up on the youngster with VAR confirming the assistant's decision.

Guardiola's men dominated possession for most of the early parts of the first half, but they were unable to carve any serious openings while Spurs did look a bit lively on the counter attack.

The match was a stark contrast to the Premier League clash last month at the Etihad, where the two sides played to an entertaining 3-3 draw.

Spurs got their first real chance ten minutes after the break as Timo Wenrer did well to pick out Brennan Johnson, who saw his attempted lob saved by goalkeeper Stefan Ortega.

Guardiola responded with a double change soon after that as Julian Alvarez and Bobb made way for De Bruyne and Jeremy Doku for the final 30 minutes of the second half.

The Citizens got the breakthrough with two minutes left on the clock through Nathan Ake, who reacted quickest by firing home from close range after Spurs failed to clear a corner.
