Chelsea booked their spot in the semi-finals of the FA Cup after with a 4-2 victory over ten-man Leicester City on Sunday evening.

The Blues made two changes following their narrow win against Newcastle United in a five-goal thriller in the league, as Mykhaylo Mudryk replaced the suspended Enzo Fernandez and goalkeeper Robert Sanchez was recalled.

Chelsea had a perfect start after Marc Cucurella gave them the lead within the first 13 minutes after square pass by Nicolas Jackson.

As the game opened up, Mauricio Pochettino's charges had a big chance to go 2-0 up on 25 minutes after they were awarded a penalty for a foul on Raheem Sterling in the box.

However, Sterling's spot-kick lacked power and was saved by Leicester goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk.

The hosts had momentum after the half-hour mark and Sterling had another big opportunity just before the interval after he broke clear on goal but fired his shot wide.

However, Sterling redeemed himself on the stroke of half-time after he setup Cole Palmer to score Chelsea's second goal with a tap-in.

The Foxes had a lifeline early in the second stanza after Axel Disasi conceded an own goal with an over hit back pass that eluded Sanchez, who was out of goal.

City gained an extra step going forward and just after the hour-mark, Stephy Mavididi levelled matters for the visitors with a curled shot towards the far post after he dribbled his way through in the box.

The Blues were fired up to get back in front and with 18 minutes to go, they had a penalty over-turned after the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review but Leicester did not completely get away with the incident, as after a free-kick was awarded instead, Callum Doyle was red-carded for a professional foul and the Foxes were down to ten men.

Pochettino brought on the fresh legs of Carney Chukwuemeka in place Mudryk with 12 minutes to go.

Chelsea pressurized Leicester in the dying minutes and coming close a few timew, Chukwuemeka eventually restored the lead for the Blues in stoppage time with a low shot towards the bottom corner after a through ball by Palmer.

City could not get out of their own half and another late substitute Noni Madueke put the result beyond doubt for Chelsea with a looping shot over Stolarczyk, which was the last kick of the game.
