Nicolas Jackson netted his first hat-trick for Chelsea, who registered a 4-1 victory over nine-man Tottenham Hotspur on Monday evening.

Thiago Silva, Levi Colwill, Moises Caicedo and Reece James were all recalled by Mauricio Pochettino, while Spurs handed starts to Brennan Johnson and Destiny Udogie.

Spurs only needed six minutes to find the breakthrough when Pape Matar Sarr did well to pick out Dusan Kulusevski, who unleashed a strike that took a wicked deflection and sailed into the back of the net.

Chelsea nearly got back on level terms minutes later when Nicolas Jackson carved out some space in the box, before seeing his strike superbly tipped away by Spurs goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.

After Son Heung-min had a goal disallowed, the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) came to Spurs' rescue at the midway point to rule out goals from Raheem Sterling and Nicolas Jackson for a handball and offside respectively.

The drama was not done there as Chelsea were awarded a penalty after the referee spotted a foul on Enzo Fernandez from Christian Romero, who was shown a straight red. Cole Palmer stepped up and slotted the penalty into bottom corner to level matters.

There was not the only red card of the game as Spurs were reduced to nine men on 54 minutes when Udogie was given his marching orders after picking up his second yellow card of the encounter.

The Blues had a big chance to pull ahead with around 20 minutes to go when substitute Marc Cucurella was sent clear on goal, however the full-back was denied by a fine save by Vicario.

The turnaround was complete on 75 minutes when Sterling managed to get beyond the Spurs defence to race clear on goal and set up Nicolas Jackson for the close-range finish.

Jackson made the game safe in the 94th minute with a similar finish to his first goal, although this time he turned home a cross from Conor Gallagher, before the Senegalese forward completed his hat-trick a few minutes later.
