In shock news, a club in Europe has requested €120 million (around R2 billion) in compensation after claiming that a player's death effectively caused their relegation.
EFL Championship outfit Cardiff City has lodged a lawsuit with the Nantes Commercial Court in a bid to be compensated for losses incurred because of their relegation from the Premier League in 2019, according to L'Equipe via Marca.

Now, the EFL club is reported to have claimed that their failure to remain an English top-flight team was partially influenced by Sala's passing.
Cardiff are said to have formed their assumptions on information provided by artificial intelligence (AI) company Analytics FC, which calculated that the player would have given the club a 54.2% chance of surviving the drop that season.
The prediction was based on how many goals the Argentine would have scored in the second half of the campaign had he completed the transfer.

Nantes, meanwhile, are said to have hit back with their own demand, requesting that Cardiff be fined on the grounds of "moral damage".
