Bayern Munich are reportedly eyeing a shock move for one of their former coaches after being snubbed by Xabi Alonso.

Alonso, who was wanted by Liverpool, confirmed recently that he will be staying with Bayer Leverkusen next season.

This came as a blow for both Liverpool and Bayern due to Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel both leaving at the end of the current campaign.

According to Sport Bild journalists Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl have made Julian Nagelsmann their number one choice for next season.

Nagelsmann was sacked by the Bavarians in March of 2023 despite the club still competing for the Bundesliga, UEFA Champions League and DFB Pokal.

Tuchel ended up taking over and only ended up winning the Bundesliga title on the final day of the season after Borussia Dortmund had failed to win their final game.

Nagelsmann has since taken up the role as head coach for the German national team, who will compete at the 2024 European Championship in June.

Tuchel spoke about his future with the national side earlier this month in an interview with RTL after the Bayern reports emerged.

"I don't have a written offer, and there have been no talks yet," he said.

"I'm still in the phase where I'm considering how things will unfold from a professional standpoint.

"There are several clubs and possibilities that might arise eventually, but currently, I don't have any contracts ready to sign.

"I'm still pondering what the future holds."
