A Young Africans chief has commented on the support the Tanzanian side has in South Africa ahead of their crunch CAF Confederation clash against Mamelodi Sundowns on Friday.

With Young Africans having landed in South Africa ahead of their next clash against Mamelodi Sundowns, a club chief has spoken on the support they will receive in Mzansi, referencing the Tanzanian side's last visit to the country when they got the better of Marumo Gallants.

The anticipation for the second leg of the CAF Champions League quarter-final between Sundowns and Yanga is building quickly after the visitors landed at OR Tambo International Airport on Tuesday, ahead of the match on Friday.

The two teams are deadlocked after they could not be separated in the first leg last Saturday, playing out to a 0-0 draw at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

The Tanzanians' trip to South Africa has already got off to a bit of an unfortunate start, having been left stranded for a short while after the bus provided to them by Sundowns broke down on the way to their hotel after leaving the airport.

Nevertheless, the club's chief executive officer, Andre Mtine, is optimistic about the support his side will have in South Africa following their previous visit to the country for a continental tie against now-relegated Gallants in 2023.

"In South Africa, we have many supporters, and you saw that when we played against Marumo Gallants in the CAF Confederation Cup last year. As such, we urge them to do the same," he said, according to Daily News Tanzania.

Yanga eliminated Gallants from the Confederation Cup on that particular trip, claiming a 4-1 aggregate win in the semi-finals of the tournament, before going on to lose the final against USM Alger via the away goals rule.

Club manager Miguel Gamondi, meanwhile, is bullish about his side's chances ahead of the second leg on Friday.

"I think they (Mamelodi Sundowns) are the ones with pressure to qualify for the semi-finals and are among the candidates to win the Champions League title this season," the tactician said.

"As such, it will be another tactically difficult game and I believe in my team, my players, that hopefully we are going to have a good game.

"We need to be clinical and try to score from the chances that come by. It will be a high-level match, but I am optimistic that we will do well in the end."
