Al Ahly's coach is reportedly planning on dropping Percy Tau for their next game in the CAF Champions League.

Following an underwhelming display in the CAF Champions League quarter-final first leg, Al Ahly are reportedly ready to make some big changes, including one involving South Africa's Percy Tau.

The defending champions claimed a narrow 1-0 win over Simba SC in the first leg of their last-eight tie last Friday.

However, the result was by no means an accurate reflection of the match, with the Tanzanian giants being arguably the better team on the night, claiming 63% ball possession and registering more shots (20) and passes (544) than their opposition, according to the match report.

Al Ahly started the game with a front two of Tau and former Borussia Dortmund star Anthony Modeste, but it was midfielder Ahmed Koka who scored the only goal of the match in the fourth minute.

The north Africans had just five shots at goal, with the only one on target being the goal they scored.

Indeed, it was a largely underwhelming display by Marcel Koller's forward line, and reports now suggest that the Swiss coach is ready to ring the changes.

According to Sport Elwatan, the Al Ahly boss is planning on leaving Tau out of the starting XI for the return leg against Simba.

Two of the Bafana star's teammates, Modeste and Hussein Al-Shahat, will reportedly also drop to the bench in favour of Mahmoud Kahraba, Reda Slim and Taher Mohamed.

Having finished as the CAFCL's top goalscorer last season, Tau has been less productive in the competition this term, contributing with just one goal and zero assists in eight games so far.

His future in Egypt still remains a bit of mystery, too, as he is yet to sign a contract extension despite his time at the club currently being set to draw to an end in June.
