One of Mamelodi Sundowns' remaining CAF Champions League rivals has insisted he sees God guiding them further in the competition, despite the superior quality of the remaining teams in the tournament.

The Champions League semi-finals will get underway on Saturday with a double-header, with TP Mazembe set to take on Al Ahly in the first leg in DR Congo in the afternoon, while Sundowns will face Esperance away in Tunisia that same day at 21:00, South African time.

Downs and Al Ahly are widely viewed as favourites to lift the trophy altogether, although no easy matches can be expected as the reigning African Football League champions are desperate to overcome their next opponents in order to guarantee a spot at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

For TP Mazembe, who are the second-most successful team in the Champions League with five titles, Al Ahly are daunting opponents as the results between the two teams have to date been split, with each side claiming one win from their previous two meetings.

The Congolese juggernauts' midfielder Augustine Oladapo has now admitted that the three other teams remaining in the competition have better quality players than them, but added that he feels faith could be on their side this time around.

"The way we're going, we're believing that something good can come out of it," the 28-year-old said, according to Football Live Nigeria.

"We don't have the best quality players like Sundowns, Al Ahly, Esperance. And in our group, we had Sundowns and the likes.

"We were able to come out because it was like a dream.

"And when we got to the quarter-final, people said we couldn't beat Petro, but we went there and we did it in their home.

"For me, I see the hand of God moving us.

"That's why I believe something can happen."

Oladapo has made nine appearances for Mazembe in the CAFCL this term, including two starts against Masandawana during the group stage.
