A former Kaizer Chiefs star is now reportedly on the verge of joining Khama Billiat at Zimbabwean side Yadah FC.

With the 33-year-old having completed his move to Zimbabwe's Premier Soccer League (PSL) outfit about three weeks ago, he could now be joined by a compatriot who also previously plied his trade in South Africa, Ovidy Karuru, according to Nehanda Radio

Karuru joined the Glamour Boys in 2014, before stints at AmaZulu, Stellenbosch FC, and Black Leopards. He then represented second-tier Saudi Arabian side Shoalah from January 2022 to August 2022.

Since then, however, the 35-year-old has been a free agent, but this could change very soon, according to club owner Prophet Walter Magaya, who hinted at the possibility during Billiat's official unveiling.

"I want other players like Ovidy Karuru, who do not have teams, to come back home and play in the PSL because I believe they are still above the local league standard," Magaya said, per Nehanda Radio.

Karuru last played professionally in his native country in the early stages of his professional career, representing now-defunct sides Masvingo United from 2006 to 2008 and Gunners in 2009.

Billiat, meanwhile, has revealed he is enjoying being back at home.

"This is great. I've been homesick for quite some time and being here and having so much love, I truly appreciate [it] and I'm looking forward to enjoying football in Zimbabwe," he said.

"I don't think I've ever felt like this before, because I didn't know how it is. With so much love that I'm getting, it's amazing, it's overwhelming."

The Zimbabwean PSL's 2024 season will kick off this weekend, with Yadah set to travel to Hwange on Sunday afternoon, boosted by new-signing Billiat, who will be hopeful of making his debut for his new side.
