A former Egyptian star has urged one of Al Ahly's rivals to fight for the signature of South Africa international Percy Tau.

The attacker made his first appearance for the club since last month, coming on as a substitute in the Red Devils' first-leg in the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League against Congolese side TP Mazembe.

His absence was believed to be due to an ankle injury, although it had also been reported that it was because of a fallout with manager Marcel Koller

The former Brighton & Hove Albion player's contract situation with Al Ahly, meanwhile, is said to have not yet been ironed out with his deal at the Egyptian giants believed to be until June next year.

Considering his current situation, former Zamalek forward Ahmed Hossam, also known as "Mido", has called on his former club to snatch up the services of the 29-year-old.

"Zamalek must fight to include Percy Tau if he does not renew his contract with Al-Ahly, because he is a player that the white team needs as a right winger who plays with his left foot and is good at playing on the sides," Mido said on television, per Veto.

"Zamalek also needs to include two goalkeepers, a distinguished foreign striker, a super defender, and a left-back."

The White Castle recorded a 2-1 victory over the Red Devils in an Egyptian Premier League match earlier this month.

The side are, however, considered to be underachieving this season, as they occupy 12th place on the league table, collecting just six wins in 13 games.
