Former Al Ahly star Ahmed Shobeir says the club have no intention of selling Bafana Bafana forward Percy Tau.

There had been rumours of the former Mamelodi Sundowns star possibly leaving following Pitso Mosimane's sudden departure on Monday.

Tau has made a total of 25 appearances for the Red Devils, while scoring eight goals and assisting a further six following his move from Brighton and Hove Albion.

Despite the rumours, Shobeir is convinced the African giants will keep the South African, who still has two years left on his current deal.

“Tau’s agent confirmed that the player is committed to his contract with the team,” Shobeir said, according to KingFut.

“Tau will not leave Al Ahly, he’s a high-quality player and the club has no intention of selling him.”

Tau missed Wednesday night's Egyptian Premier League win over El Sharqia Dokhan as he was returning from international duty.

Al Ahly will host rivals and league leaders Zamalek in the Cairo Derby on Sunday night.
