Jean-Louis Gasset has officially parted ways with Ivory Coast.

Yet another manager at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations has parted ways with his national side as they await their fate at the competition.

Ivory Coast manager Jean-Louis Gasset has left the role after the team suffered two consecutive defeats in the group stage, despite making a positive start to the tournament.

"The contracts of coach Jean-Louis Gasset and his assistant Ghislain Printant are terminated due to insufficient results," the Ivorian Football Federation said in a statement.

"The Federation Ivoirienne de Football expresses its regrets for the performance of the Elephants during the group phase of the CAN (AFCON) 2023."However, it remains convinced of the potential of our football team, and calls for the unity of all for the upcoming events."

The host nation beat Guinea-Bissau by two goals to nil in their tournament opener, but then suffered a 1-0 loss to Nigeria, followed by a shock 4-0 defeat to Equatorial Guinea.

The run of bad results has left the Elephants hoping and praying that results in the remaining group stage matches go in their favour in order for them to progress to the round of 16.

As things stand, the side is currently one of the four best third-placed teams that are eligible to progress to the next round of the tournament.

Things, however, are likely to change as teams from Group E and F must still play their third round of matches later today.

Rather than wait for the final outcome, Gasset has now officially parted ways with the national team.

This news comes after the sacking of former Ghana manager Chris Houghton on Tuesday night, while Adel Amrouche was fired by Tanzania for comments he made towards the Moroccan national team following the side's 3-0 defeat to the Atlas Lions.

It also follows the resignation of Tom Saintfiet, who left his post as manager of Gambia on Tuesday.

"Thank you for your service gaffer. After everything is said and done, Gambia will indeed miss a great tactician," the country's football federation wrote in a statement regarding the Belgian's departure.

"Five and a half years of incredible service to our nation, qualifying us to back-to-back AFCON was no fluke. Always the best of luck."
