Nigeria head coach Jose Peseiro has called for his side to be more efficient in front of goal.

With a mammoth Africa Cup of Nations semi-final against South Africa next, Nigeria boss Jose Peseiro has admitted there is one thing his players need to do better if they are to taste success in the tournament.

The Super Eagles edged past their quarter-final opponents Angola by a goal to nil courtesy of a 41st minute strike by Ademola Lookman, but the team's manager has since insisted that his men should be scoring more.

Peseiro acknowledged his team's defensive abilities, which has seen them concede just one goal at the tournament thus far, but demanded improvement at the other end of the pitch.

"Once again we played without conceding, and scored a goal, but I would have liked more. The team could have created more opportunities," he said following Nigeria's quarter-final triumph, per The Star.

The 63-year-old also admitted that luck was on their side in their quarter-final tie.

"We are a quality team, Angola was very good, but we had more luck.

"I remain satisfied with my players but want us to be more efficient.

"We're missing some key creators like [Kelechi] Iheanacho and [Joe] Aribo, so it's been hard. But others must now step up."

While boasting an impressive defensive record, the side has only scored six goals in the five matches they have played at the tournament thus far.

Their semi-final opponents Bafana Bafana, meanwhile, have not conceded a goal since losing 2-0 to Mali in their opener, and have since managed to net just six goals as well, putting four past Namibia and scoring twice against Morocco.
