With Egypt set to play their final group game of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations on Monday night, the Egyptian Football Federation (EFA) has made a huge announcement regarding talisman Mohamed Salah.
The record AFCON champions are facing off against Cape Verde in their final group game, with a victory set to guarantee the north African giants a spot in the knockout stage of the tournament.
Rui Vitoria's side are yet to win in this edition so far, having claimed two draws against Mozambique and Ghana. The side were dealt a massive blow in their last game after their main man Salah sustained an injury just before half-time.

The 31-year-old underwent scans and the results showed that he had suffered a hamstring injury, with the EFA initially stating that the marksman will miss just two games if the Pharaohs progress beyond the round of 16.
On Sunday, it was confirmed Salah will return to Anfield to continue rehab with his club, as per KingFut.
The EFA’s statement read: "After conducting additional examinations for Mohamed Salah in the last few hours and following communication between the national team’s medical staff and their counterparts at Liverpool, it has been decided that the player will return to England after tomorrow’s Cape Verde match to continue his treatment.
"The hope is that he will join the team in the semi-final of the African Cup of Nations if they qualify."
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was asked about the possibility of Salah's early return to the club after his side thrashed Bournemouth 4-0 on Sunday.
The German tactician said: "That’s the plan. If that’s already decided 100 percent I don’t know, but that’s the plan."
