One of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations' top managers is now said to have received an offer worth $90 000 (R1.6 million) a month to join one of Africa's biggest teams.

Several managers at the recent AFCON saw their stock rise, including Bafana Bafana boss Hugo Broos, Ivory Coast interim coach Emerse Fae, and Nigeria tactician Jose Peseiro.

With the odds stacked against him heading into the tournament, the latter, Peseiro, guided the Super Eagles to their first AFCON final since 2013.

As such, it is now being reported that he is being pursued by another African giant following his silver-medal finish at the recent showpiece.

According to Algerian news outlet DZ Football, the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has offered Peseiro a whopping $90 000 a month to take over their national team after Djamel Belmadi was relieved of his duties following their disappointing campaign in the Ivory Coast.

It is further claimed that Carlos Queiroz and Vladimir Petkovic have also been shortlisted for the job – it is believed, however, that the former Bafana Bafana boss has rejected the opportunity – while Peseiro has since confirmed receiving an offer from the Algerian federation.

"I received a lot of offers after the African Cup final," the Portuguese tactician told El Hayat TV.

"I received an offer from the FAF, but I will first rest and my agent will take care of it."

Peseiro reportedly earned $50 000 (just over R1 million) a month with Nigeria, with it believed his contract with the Super Eagles has effectively expired after AFCON – his deal is said to have stipulated that he must reach the Afcon semi-finals to qualify for a renewal, but having achieved that, it remains to be seen if a new contract will be offered, and accepted, by the coach, who has also been linked with Egyptian giants Zamalek.
