Veteran South African midfielder Michael Morton has blasted the state of the Premier Soccer League over the purchasing and selling of Free State Stars, Bidvest Wits and Bloemfontein Celtic, who are a few of the clubs that have ceased to exit.

READREVEALED: Status sale of Free State Stars to be concluded

The former Orlando Pirates, Maritzburg United and SuperSport United star took to his official social media platforms to voice his displeasure at the 'crazy' buying and selling of some of the most historic football clubs in the country, including Bidvest Wits, a club sold just a season after winning the league title.

Wits was also just months away from celebrating a 100th year in existence.

"Looking at the log table from the 2013/14 season, would you believe me if I told you that six clubs no longer exist?

"The two that hurt the most was Bidvest Wits – [a club with] massive history and obviously the best supporters in South Africa, Bloemfontein Celtic.

"It’s crazy scenes. It’s very difficult to look at the situation positively, we’ve hurt a lot of fans here, we’ve lost all of history in our game…

"Things have to change, this can’t continue."

Other teams who have been sold in recent memory include Highlands Park, who were sold to Tim Sukazi and renamed TS Galaxy, as well as Maccabi FC, who were sold to David Mogashoa and remained Swallows FC (now Moroka Swallows).
