The DStv Premiership fixture between TS Galaxy and Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday evening has been postponed.

Here is the statement from the league

"The Premier Soccer League (PSL) hereby confirms the postponement of the DStv Premiership fixture between TS Galaxy FC and Mamelodi Sundowns scheduled for this evening, 06 March 2024, at Mbombela Stadium (19h30).

The decision has been made in consideration of the extraordinary circumstances following an accident involving the TS Galaxy FC team bus and another motor vehicle on Tuesday afternoon.

The PSL extends its understanding and support to TS Galaxy FC during this challenging period. We acknowledge the impact of this decision on all stakeholders and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Details regarding the rescheduled fixture will be communicated in due course."

The Rockets' team bus was involved in an accident on their way to Mbombela Stadium on Tuesday afternoon, after they collided head on with a car described as a VW Polo.

The single driver of the VW Polo caught the corner of the TS Galaxy bus and her car flew in the air and landed on the rock on top of a hill and unfortunately she could not survive after landing back on the ground.

The Rockets chairman Tim Sukazi, who detailed the experience, says the team is "traumatized" after they witnessed the dead body of the driver of the car and after assessing the situation again with the players at training, he feels compelled to write to the League and Sundowns to ask for a postponement.

"We're a league that is run by the executive, we'll send the communique to the League and our colleagues at Sundowns, for the League to make the determination," Sukazi said on Metro FM Sports.

"Or at least guide us in how these matters are dealt with but the best would be for sure the postponement but these things are beyond our control.

"The executive can make the determination and decide, hopefully they can decide in that manner but if we're asked to honour the game, there's nothing else we can do," he added.

The Galaxy v Sundowns fixture is arguably the most anticipated DStv Premiership game in midweek following a war of words between coaches Sead Ramovic and Rulani Mokwena in the media.

The two coaches' feud began in October last year after the Rockets knocked out the Brazilians out of the Carling Knockout on penalties, where Ramovic claimed that Mokwena "disrespected" his players for complaining about not having his Bafana Bafana players available for the fixture.

It has now been confirmed that the match is now postponed.
