Royal AM will have to contend with further crisis after FIFA confirmed the latest transfer ban after they failed to settle Brazilian defender Ricardo Nascimento’s claim.

‘Thwihli Thwahla’ as Royal AM are nicknamed, have rapidly established themselves as a club with questionable administration considering that they have another transfer ban for the case relating to Samir Nurkovic, which is now under a cloud at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Down in fourteenth place on the DStv Premiership standings, Royal AM cannot make any signing during the January transfer window just like they were also not able to bring in new players at the beginning of the season.

Their latest transfer ban which came into effect on January 15 and was updated on FIFA’s list of clubs banned from making registrations on Monday midday relates to Nascimento.

Nascimento spent a season and a half playing for Royal AM but left unhappy in May 2023 after a breach of his contract.

Following several failed attempts to resolve the matter amicably with the club, the 36-year-old then took up the matter to FIFA which he won.

Royal AM were ordered to pay in the region of R620 000 but chose not to do so within the stipulated time frame and now have now had a transfer ban imposed.

According to FIFA, Royal AM will not be able to make any new registrations for three window periods effective January 15, 2024.

Nascimento has since rejoined his Rio Branco Esporte Clube for the 2024 Campeonato Paulista – Serie A4.

Royal AM already have another three-window transfer ban on their shoulders which came into effect on July 3, 2023, relating to Nurkovic’s case.
