Polokwane City head coach Phuti Mohafe is not entirely happy with the implementation of coaching standards in South African football.

The long-awaited implementation of the CAF Regulations in domestic football will finally come into effect at the beginning of the 2024/25 season.

The Rise and Shine tactician has taken action with the timing of the implementation, but also revealed the fee needed to do a coaching course.

"I'm between the rock and the hard place," Mohafe tells KickOff.

"Qualifications will help you in terms of getting the required knowledge, the knowledge without qualifications also helps in giving you what you need in terms of coaching.

"Without one it limits your chances of becoming a coach. But now the problem is they are bringing it at the wrong time.

"Most of us have been having certain qualifications for a long time. But now just because in South Africa they just did their CAF A license, they just want to follow what they are doing just like that.

"If they can do these courses continuously then I don't see us having a problem.

"They must not catch us off guard like this, now that they just did the CAF A license course, suddenly everyone in the PSL must have the coaching license.

"Don't forget that these licenses come gradually, every two seasons. It doesn't sit well with us.

"We've been waiting for CAF A courses since 2015. You talk about such issues, you are put under the spotlight.

"I have a CAF B license, I've been waiting for it, when I was about to do my A license I realized it was expensive.

"You need R35 000 for your CAF A course."
