In-form striker Zakhele Lepasa was delighted after inspiring Orlando Pirates to a dominant 5-0 win over a hapless Sekhukhune United side by scoring an impressive hat-trick in an MTN8 quarter-final at Orlando Stadium on Saturday.

Lepasa is fast emerging as a lethal locally-produced striker - which is a rarity in South African football - after registering an incredible five goals in the Buccaneers' opening three matches in all competitions.

The 26-year-old has continued a rich vein of form kickstarted by an impressive loan spell at SuperSport United, before scoring important goals for Bafana Bafana on the international stage.

Lepasa now appears to be emerging as a breakout star with his deadly accuracy in front of goal.

"We deserved it, we worked hard for it [the win], and I hope it's just the start for bigger things," Lepasa told Pirates TV.

I hope to stay humble and work hard because we've now set the bar for ourselves, so we just need to continue, continue and continue.

"With whatever challenges that we may face, we just need to just continue to work hard and do even more than what we've done today."

Saturday's victory could have been even sweeter for Lepasa who missed a penalty in the 79th minute before eventually sealing his hat-trick.

"I could've scored like four today, unfortunately, I'm a striker who practices a lot, and penalties are one of the things that I work a lot on," Lepasa added.

"Maybe I tried too hard, maybe I thought I had scored already.

"But I'm very happy with the hat-trick, maybe one day it will be four.

"I think I'm very lucky to be here, and very lucky to be playing for such a big club. The fans are amazing and it's always nice to play in front of them whether it's at home or away.

"I just want to thank the fans and hope that they come more and more in their numbers, and it would be good for whoever hasn’t come yet."
