Head coach Jose Riveiro has identified what his players have to improve on after settling for a draw against Cape Town Spurs on Wednesday.

The Buccaneers missed out on a chance to go second on the DStv Premiership table after playing to a 1-1 draw against The Urban Warriors at Orlando Stadium.

Teenager Relebohile Mofokeng had opened the scoring in the first half, before Spurs replied through Gadiel Kamiga in the second half.

The result means Pirates have now dropped 12 points after surrendering their lead against a team that either secured a draw or went on to beat them this season – the most points dropped by any team in the league.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Riveiro admitted that his players had to improve on that aspect of game management.

"There's some certain moments in the games, like I said many times that there's two, three, four games always inside the game, but it's never the same game during the 90 minutes and you need to beat your opponent in all of those games, all of those periods," he said.

"There's a period that that we need to do much better and for me it’s the moment that you get the lead.

"You need to close the games in that moments and not make the opponent feel that they can make it to half-time or after 60 minutes and feel that they're still alive here in Orlando, especially when we play home.

"But we will come, like I said, it's something that the only way that you can get mature is with experiences and not talking about it. Or they need to experience it.

"They (Pirates players) need to feel it, the pain, like they are feeling today. I'm sure and from that experience they learn and be better players and be a better team."

Next up for Pirates is a titanic clash against rivals Kaizer Chiefs, to be played at FNB Stadium. Kick off is 15:30.
