Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler has described his team's failure to sign Namibian star Prins Tjiueza as a huge setback.

Tjiueza was due to join City during the past transfer window period but the move was delayed by an unexpected injury.

The 21-year-old striker who was one of the star performers for Namibia during the AFCON in Ivory Coast this year is now expected to join the Citizens at the end of the season.

Tjiueza has already undergone surgery for his ankle injury sustained during the AFCON match against Angola in Ivory Coast.

Tinkler admits after the Cape derby against Stellenbosch, that he was already looking forward to working with the striker before being ruled out of action due to a long-term injury.

"The (Brice) Ambina thing happened very quickly and Thato Mokeke, obviously, with a long-term injury," the head coach revealed in the post-match press conference after the loss to Stellenbosch.

"The Prins thing not happening, that was a massive loss, in my opinion.

"Not having Prins (was a big blow) because he was somebody we were looking forward to adding massive value, playing that 10 role."

Cape Town City could lose the services of Cameroonian midfielder Brice Ambina and Congolese defender Nathan Fasika Idumba, with both having attended trials with the Norwegian club Valerenga.
