‘Sundowns will be the biggest ever test for Yanga'

Former Young Africans technical team member has highlighted the magnitude of the Tanzanian club’s impending meeting with Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Tanzanian giants will meet the Brazilians over two legs on March 30 in Dar es Salaam and then in Tshwane on April 5 in the quarterfinals of the CAF Champions League.

Yanga are through to the quarterfinals of the Champions League for the first time in their history, while their South African counterparts are making their ninth appearance at this stage.

"It will be easy for the Sundowns scouts because Yanga have played the same way since the beginning of the season with the same players," Cedric Kaze tells KickOff.com.

Kaze worked as assistant coach-cum-technical director to Nasreddine Nabi at Yanga through the double treble years at the club.

"One thing for sure is that it will be a nice game.

"Yanga like to play and place their foot on the ball regardless of who is in front of them, so it will be an open game.

A key member of Young Africans' technical staff is

"I think this will be the biggest test for Yanga in their history in this competition because of what Sundowns has done in recent years.

"Sundowns is already ahead, while Yanga’s project started when we were there, so it will need some time to get to where Sundowns are now having already won the Champions League.

"What is happening at Sundowns was started 10 years ago and these are processes that need to be respected.

"To get to where Sundowns are now, there are a lot of ingredients that need to be put in place.

"Yanga are building and are on their way there because they now have players from national teams.

"Sundowns have the advantage of experience because they have been in the quarterfinals almost every year in the last 10 years. So, they know how to handle this space, but I still expect an entertaining game," adds Kaze.
