Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena gave credit to his coaching staff after the side's 2-0 victory over Chippa United on Saturday night.

Sundowns extended their lead at the top of the DStv Premiership table to 12 points after beating Chippa United 2-0 courtesy of goals by Teboho Mokoena and Tashreeq Matthews.

Mokwena says he was unhappy with the first-half, after they went to the break with a narrow 1-0 lead.

"Let me start by congratulating the team and thank them also, I think in the first-half they played a little bit like their coach felt this week, nervous, shaky, not confident and I was like that also this whole week and I wanna thank them for being there for me and the club and doing the business," Mokwena told SuperSport TV.

"And second-half we were better, much better, we had more control, more dominant, zero chances for the opponent, a few more box entries and chances, so very good.

"I also want to congratulate the technical team and the coaches, because we put our brains together, not just at half-time but also for the subs and I think we got the subs right.

So congratulations to coach Manqoba, coach Kennedy and coach Wendell because I thought we read the game well and we made very good substitutions," he said.

"And they were good, 'Mshishi' (Themba Zwane) was good, they changed the game, Gaston (Sirino) was very good, Tash (Matthews) came in and changed the game, Grant (Kekana) stabilized.

"All round very good performance from the team and I wanna congratulate the whole club."
